  1. What is the membership application review procedure?
The Membership Committee will review the application, bio/resume, and reference's response to AIGAC's questionnaire along with publicly available information about the applicant to evaluate whether the applicant adheres to AIGAC's Principles of Good Practice. Based on the review, the Committee will make a recommendation to the Board of Directors. The Board will make the final decision to offer or deny membership in AIGAC.

  2. Will references be contacted?
Yes. References will receive a questionnaire. The Membership Committee will review their responses to the questionnaire. The Committee may follow up the review with a phone call.

  3. What happens if an application is not approved? Are the pre-paid dues refunded?
If an application for membership is denied, an email is sent to the applicant providing notification of the decision. 100% of the pre-paid dues are refunded.

  4. What happens when my application is approved?
When an applicant is approved for membership, he/she will receive a welcome letter, the Stamp of Excellence, an invitation to join AIGAC's private Google group, and an invitation to take an active role in AIGAC's committees.

  5. Will the information I submit and the fact that I applied be confidential?
Application information is accessible only to AIGAC's Membership Committee, Board of Directors, and staff. If your application is approved, your name, country and web site will be added to the membership directory unless you ask for your contact information to remain confidential.

  6. Who can display the Stamp of Excellence and when?
If an organization purchases a Business Organization membership for all of its consultants, then the organization may use the Stamp of Excellence in association with its consultancy as well as the individual member consultants who are part of its staff. The Stamp of Excellence may be displayed on organization web sites, stationery, marketing material, and business cards.

If only some of the consultants in an admissions consultancy are members of AIGAC, it may refer to those individuals as members of AIGAC but not the organization. The Stamp of Excellence may be displayed on their bios and business cards, but not on other pages of the consultancy's web site, its stationery, or its marketing material.

If you join as an Individual Consultant and you are the only person working in your consultancy, you may display the Stamp of Excellence in reference to the consultancy as well as yourself. If other consultants work for the consultancy and they aren't AIGAC members, they and the consultancy may not display the Stamp of Excellence.

  7. Can new members participate? How?
Yes! You can get involved in AIGAC's committees (Communications, Events, Governance, and Membership). You can participate in our members-only Google Group. You can submit posts for the AIGAC blog. You can come to our events. You can network with other members. You have many opportunities to contribute to AIGAC.

"At Tuck, we embrace relationships with educational advisors around the world. The advice they provide to prospective students is mutually beneficial to the students as well as the schools they represent. Each year, we invite a group of global educational advisors to visit Tuck to learn about the many facets of our MBA program as well as the admissions office. I applaud the current effort of this group to come up with ethical standards of behavior. This should significantly alleviate concerns regarding issues such as improper coaching of essays. We look forward to a continued relationship with such educational advisors." -- Dawna Clarke, Director of Admissions, The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth
